He had spent more than half of his life in sober living facilities or treatment centers by the time he was 49 years old. The memoir is filled with upsetting revelations, such as one about Perry carrying his front teeth to the dentist in a baggie in his trousers pocket (He says, “Yes, all of them,” after biting into a piece of peanut butter toast and having them fall out) and another about short-lived, alcohol-induced sexual trouble.

Perry began talking about his drug use comfortably and then, as he relaxed, at a loudness that permitted me to cease worrying about my recording equipment. When he was 14 years old, it began with Andrès Baby Duck wine and Budweiser and quickly grew to include quarts of vodka, Vicodin, Xanax, and OxyContin. Finally, he set a limit on heroin, a decision he believes saved his life.

Governor Gavin Newsom signed this bill, SB 1183. This law will provide funding for the singer’s “Imagination Library.” Parents just have to register their child for the online program, and the kid will receive a book every month from birth to the 5th birthday.
