The target readership for this book is envisioned to be girls 8-12 years old (4<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0to 6<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0grade levels).\u00a0 Vanessa Vakharia, who runs The Math Guru science and math tutoring studio says negative perceptions about math and science abilities begin at surprisingly young ages for girls. Many studies have shown that girls as early as age six start developing the idea that they’re not inherently good at math.\u00a0 For that reason, it’s important to focus on fostering interests in math and sciences in girls from a young age, and to work to counter negative perceptions they might start developing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Scholastic, in conjunction with YouGov, conducted its biannual survey to explore family attitudes and behaviors around reading books for fun.
