A newcomer to the fiction genre, after a career in domestic and international management, Peter has now embarked on his next endeavor using the experiences and cultural insights he’s acquired examining the emotions and behaviors of everyday humans who never cease to amaze him with the things they do. The Seneca Song is his first effort and chronicles the sometimes painful story of two young adults isolated in a remote outpost in the Finger Lakes region of New York and their struggles together to deal with life’s challenges. This will soon be followed by his next novel, Incurious Vagabonds, a tale of adults that gave up learning or expanding their universe years ago thinking they already knew everything necessary to successfully navigate life. This myopic intellectually incurious behavior results in the foolishness they continuously stumble into as they wander almost aimlessly through their ignorantly blissful existence. If everything goes according to plan, the sequel to The Seneca Song is scheduled to follow Incurious Vagabonds.
Taking place in the early seventies, The Seneca Song tells the story of two young adults who spend a summer in near isolation at a remote, lakefront community. Dan Wallace has spent every summer of his short life there, but this year is different. He’s convinced that upon graduation, he’ll end up drafted and fighting in Viet Nam. Believing this could be his last summer at his favorite place on earth, he’s determined to spend as much time there as possible. As summer begins, he meets a girl whose family also owns property there, yet no one has any recollection of ever having seen her before. Who is this girl and why is she there? Over the summer, they embark on a journey together forming a bond to cope with all the challenges they continuously confront. Believing it was their destiny to meet, all they want is to find a little bit of happiness while knowing that come Labor Day, they’ll be forced to return to their respective homes to face their personal demons waiting there. As fall rapidly approaches, how will this high-risk relationship end? Will it be a bitter end for them or will they ultimately find that little bit of happiness?
