Racism affects many African Americans in the US to this day. Even after cases like that of Emmett Till, the Tulsa Case Massacre, George Floyd, etc., and voices being raised against racism, men still have been subjected to unfair treatment based on their race or ethnicity. This discrimination can harm both individuals and communities and cause feelings of hatred, anger, and fear. As if being constantly judged for their ethnicity and race wasn’t enough, African Americans also face discrimination to the point where it’s difficult to find jobs, get healthcare, or access education.
Imagine a future without racism. Here’s what we can do to strive for a better and more equitable tomorrow.
- Equality for Everyone
Racism keeps people from getting equal opportunities. Thus, what we can do is make sure everyone gets equal opportunities. For example, many Black individuals struggle to find good jobs or access essential services. If we work together to eliminate racism, we can create a society where everyone, no matter their background, has a fair chance to succeed.
- Promote Mental Health
When people are mistreated, it takes a toll on their mental health. They feel anxious or depressed because they lack access to jobs, education, and resources. We can overcome this by fighting against racism actively so everyone lives happier, healthier lives.
- Mutual Respect
Racism breeds distrust and disrespect. It’s important to build a community where everyone feels valued, regardless of their skin color. Try to show love and respect to one another to create a stronger and more united society.
- Fair Trials for All
Most African Americans face unfair treatment in the justice system. They face harsher consequences for the same actions as others. We see it all the time in movies as well as in real-life scenarios. What we need is an honest justice system that serves all regardless of their ethnicity and racial background. To achieve true justice, we must address and fight against racism in all its forms.
- Safe Communities
There are several examples where racism led to harassment and violence, leaving many people feeling unsafe. We need environments where everyone feels protected and respected because everyone deserves to live without fear. This means the people of law enforcement work to protect the rights of the people of color as much as they do it for the White.
A world without racism would be a better place for all of us. We need to come together to create a future where everyone is treated equally.
