The son of a WWII Coast Guard-Merchant Marine officer, Milton served as a top-secret linguist during the Cold War before his commission in the US Army Reserve. We grow in the grace and truth of our Lord Jesus Christ through Word, Sacrament, and Prayer. These disciplines of the Christian life are practiced through public worship and, except for Holy Communion and baptism, in private devotions. There are several ways to approach the soul’s need for scripture and prayer. No compilation is more tried and found faithful than the Book of Common Prayer (BCP). The BCP, especially 1662, 1928, and 2019 English language versions, provides a lectionary (1 to 3-year readings that move through the Bible and the Church Year), prayers, and services to support biblical and theologically sound devotional exercises. The readings and prayers are called “the daily office.”
British publisher EP Books has released Hit By Friendly Fire this week in the United States. The book, written by theologian, author and singer/songwriter Michael Milton, discusses the often-ignored topic of how to handle the hurt caused by fellow believers among each other. Hit By Friendly Fire is available on Amazon.com,” reports McCain & Co. Public Relations. “Published in the U.K., Hit By Friendly Fire is already finding an audience both inside and outside the church, with clergy using it as a ministerial resource and believers reading it for understanding and guidance.
Michael Milton has written a book for our time. There is a great hunger for truth but few to point to its path—that path is God’s Word. Dr. Milton has written, ‘Our evangelical churches so often go from one faddish program to another to try to grow members, to use marketing and psychology, to build buildings.’ Through his writing and preaching he has lifted up the Word of God as the benchmark for renewal in the church—to grow bold in our witness of the One who calls people out from worldliness to godliness.
This is a short series of expository messages on the prayer of the Lord Jesus Christ recorded in John 17. Michael Milton has written in a way that will be encouraging and uplifting to any Christian. Maybe you have heard missionaries and the pastor and church officers prayed for by name, along with those who are sick or in special difficulties. Like most Christians, you don’t really qualify for any of these categories, and perhaps you have wondered, who prays for me? These messages give a surprising and thrilling answer in an easily read book that you will want to return to again and again.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
The D. James Kennedy Institute for Reformed Leadership and Training announces the pastoral fellowship-in-residence year. The pastoral fellowship-in-residence year is an opportunity for newly ordained or soon-to-be-ordained clergy to invest twelve months in an intensive time of professional training following their graduation from seminary. More than a mere “add-on” to seminary, the residential training provides a structured environment for growth as a believer in Jesus Christ, as well as a pastor in the Body of Christ. The residency, much like a fellowship in other professions.
We proclaim Him, warning and teaching everyone with all wisdom so that we may present everyone mature in Christ. I labor for this, striving with His strength that works powerfully in me” .
