Mohammad Ashraf Patel
Mohammad Ashraf Patel is the founder of the Islamic Center of Waukegan in Illinois. He seized the opportunity to purchase an abandoned church, feeling inspired to transform it into a mosque for the local Muslim community. With determination and the support of generous donors, he successfully renovated the building, creating a welcoming space for worship. Mr. Patel plans to start Quran classes for both children and adults and aims to establish a full-time Islamic school on an adjacent lot he purchased. His efforts are focused on fostering spiritual growth and education within the Waukegan community.

Imam Mufti Muhammad Irfan
Mufti Hafiz Muhammad Irfan is the dedicated Imam of the Waukegan Islamic Center, bringing extensive knowledge of Islamic teachings and a Master’s Degree in Islamic Studies and Arabic. With over six years of experience as an Imam and educator in the U.S., he leads congregational prayers, delivers impactful sermons, and teaches Islamic theology and Quranic studies. Passionate about community outreach and interfaith dialogue, Mufti Irfan aims to foster understanding and cooperation among diverse groups. Fluent in Arabic, English, and Urdu, he is committed to serving the spiritual needs of the community and promoting a deeper appreciation of Islam.

Muhammad Hafeez
Mohammad Hafeez is a key figure behind the establishment of the Islamic Center of Waukegan, having originally proposed the idea to purchase the abandoned church. Currently, he manages all daily operations of the mosque, demonstrating his dedication and motivation to serve the community. Committed to fostering growth and engagement, Mr. Hafeez works tirelessly to develop the mosque into a central hub for the local Muslim population, ensuring it meets their spiritual and communal needs.
